    Description

The item for sale here is a used Sound Devices 302 Compact Production Mixer. Included in the sale are the 302, a third-party power supply, a small Sound Devices bag, and a photocopy of the manual. This unit was purchased used in 2014.  We used it primarily for classical music recording. It has been stored in an air conditioned studio when not in use. The serial number is
    400808316001.
The 302 appears to be in excellent working condition. I was unable to test everything, but all of the following are working fine: mic inputs (with and without phantom power), basic mixer functions on all three channels (gain, fader knob, pan switch, and filter switch), test tone, balanced outs (XLR), and headphone out. I have no reason to believe there are problems with any of the untested features.
Cosmetically it shows some definite signs use (scratches, smudges and some dings around the corners and edges), but it generally looks pretty good for its age. If you have never dealt with Sound Devices, they offer excellent support for their products. Details about the 302, including a PDF manual, can be found at the Sound Devices website under Legacy Products.
A note about the third-party power supply: The 302 works on a wide range of voltages: 5-18V on the external power connector. Sound Devices tech support has told me the third-party power supply will work fine. But, there’s one quirk you might need to know. The power LED on the 302 flashes when it detects a “low” voltage. You can set the low voltage “flash point” for different types of batteries, and several of the settings have 11.5V as the flash point. This power supply seems to be supplying just under 11.5 V; so, the LED flashes when using these settings. If the flashing is distracting, you can set the flash point for a different kind of battery. The flash point does not affect the functionality of the 302.
