    Description

This would be just a nice portrait of a well-dressed lady, but the inscription on the reverse really brings it up a notch.
The inscription reads, “E, if this makes you sick use Pettits eye salve”.
First manufactured in 1843 by optical surgeon James Pettit, the eye salve was a huge success and was still being produced in the 1880s.
Photographer is “Samo & Bellsmith” of Buffalo, N. Y.
The image is in very good condition, with light spotting.
The card is in fair to good condition, with soiling and a bit of wear to the edges and corners.
Payment is appreciated within 5 days of the close of auction.  I'm happy to combine shipping, when possible, so please let me know if you're interested in more than one item.  Thank you!
