Description
original late WW2 US helmet shell with original Paratrooper Sewn chin straps in great shape. The helmet looks clean but repainted by the soldier, Its a rear seam and the rim is same material as helmet, not chrome or stainless. There is a faint number as seen inside the shell under paint. The liner is rigger made airborne added paratrooper chinstrap buckles possibly made during WW2 or post . Has leather chin cun with stains and wear with surface cracks, little thicker than buckle. thin blackened brass liner leather chinstrap that can be adjusted but has weak spots, still together, nice sweatband with markings, leather great shape. nape strap early with faint marking. The tie was tied to the supprt web strap that rest on top of the wearers head have cut into the web almost tearing one apart. most likely done by a kid who added model plane stickers to the outside liner. Can be retied to make bigger and save from cutting into the damage area more. snaps all work good as seen. there is some damage to edges to the fiber liner as well as torn place front top area. Nothing rotted or falling apart. . Good solid late war to korean war era paratrooper helmet. Hard to find even 20 years ago, One could remove the paint or keep like it is and add a net. otherwise, looks nice as it is.about 8 pound and will send priority rate USPS package.
