Description
This auction is for a World War Two era US M1 steel helmet with no liner. I'm not an expert, butI believe it's from the somewhere between 1940-1943. The helmet has a front seam, fixed bales
with dark khaki straps with brass buckles and hooks, and a heat stamp number of "558A." It also
has the original camouflage netting loosely tied to it, and a piece of 1" white surgical tape running
from the brim to the back. The tape has come loose at both ends, but I left it just as I found it. The
helmet has some wear to the paint around the rim and on the top, and one shallow dent on the top.
The inside has only some minor surface rust, and the name "Wied" written in pencil. The helmet is
exactly as it was when I found it at a garage sale. The lady I purchased it from told me that it was
her father's but other than that, I have no history behind it. I am offering this with no reserve and a
low starting bid.
