THE SYMPTOMS:
Your truck battery goes dead overnight.
After recharging the battery, it tests OK but a parasitic drain causes it to keep discharging.
Your factory remote start has suddenly stopped working.
The dash indicator no longer illuminates PARK in
RED.
THE CAUSE:
This switch in the floor console is the problem.
The switch breaks and the vehicles body control module does not get a shutdown signal and your dash continues to be illuminated after you turn off and lock the vehicle.
This is the parasitic draw that causes your battery to go dead overnight.
When this switch is working correctly, you shift through the gears and you'll see the gear selected illuminated in
RED
(In this photo above, the switch is working as intended)
If the indicator on the dash does not light up in RED while in PARK or flickers when you jiggle the shift knob, this indicates the switch inside the floor console is no longer working as designed.

THE REPAIR:
The Ford fix is to replace the whole shifter assembly for close to 0.00!
This repair kit allows you to replace just the broken switch in the console with the same OEM part in about a half hour. The part is NOT available through FORD.
Replacement OEM switch, 3 solderless connectors, and 3 wire ties.
There may be variation in style or color of the wire ties and/or connectors from one kit to another.
