1974 BMW 2002 MOSTLY RESTORED 5 SPEED w/ DUAL 40MM WEBERS W/ MANY EXTRA UNOBTAINIUM PARTS....FOR 88 HIGH QUALITY PICS GO TO https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GM7DonZF-WAbqDuLFoG0VKT1F86nMxQ0?usp=sharing. Selling my cherished 2002 due to moving North soon and can’t take it with me. I am an older guy with a 50 year old motorsports obsession who has worked on cars I have owned over the years from Fiats to M3s to Ferraris to HP2 sport racer to Lexus etc. But now I’m older and don’t work on cars much. I will be happy to answer any questions the new owner might have going forward.I have clear title in my name and in hand.History: Car was first in Honolulu, family son brought it to San Jose area 14 years ago and drove it for 4 or so years until I bought it in 2010 or so. I drove it a short while and loved the nimble handling so much that I decided to make it nicer. So it has lived in Hawaii and Norcal.Since then I have worked on different systems and slowly acquired better parts. The car is complete with many extra expensive hard to now find parts. Spares. The photos will say much of the story. BMW Mobile Tradition parts were purchased when able. If you know what that means then read on….All parts I touched were cleaned, renewed, reconditioned, and improved either by use-specific paint (Eastwood and SEM), powder coating, or replacement.NO RUST ANYWHERE excluding some surface rust underneath when you put it on a lift. All wheel wells, tower braces look amazing.Engine: Everything is new condition north of the block: Cylinder head: head ported, valves reground, new seals, gaskets, etc. Done by Top End Performance? I had to Fedex it there…. NOS dual 40mm DCOE Webers optimized for higher performance 2.0 engines. New distributor with Pertronix add on. New coil, wires. New header with port for O2 tune optimization. The special hi temp silver spray on them failed. Ansa exhaustSilicon hoses. New carb throttle controller/cables.Engine Bay An electrical service block directly from the battery was added to promote excellent power to fog lamps, 16” engine fan, and more.Fuel System: New electric fuel pump. Gas tank has 2 yr old gas with Stay-bil additive. Nice fuel pressure gauge.BrakesReplaced master cylinder and flexable lines.Electrical: Fuse box reconditioned. All exterior lights functioned last year. All interior lights, horn, chime, etc. functioned.See stereo speaker JBL/Alpine upgrades with new back shelf and front doors. New relays and Bosch Regulator; old one still worked but wanted new look. Reconditioned taillights. The front seats are Recaro. I completely rebuilt the rear seat and it looks and feels amazing. I installed Dyna-Mat on the rear tunnel, under the rear seat, side panels and doors to reduce noise. The floor is 100% solid. All black trim/door panels are repainted and look excellent. Trunk looks really good. The drive train is stock except for a 5 speed from I believe he said an early 80’s 320i. Clutch and gear action was perfect when I last drove.ExteriorAll glass is clear. All running lights were reconditioned and look very good. New performance horns and Cibie headlights. Stock headlights: several years ago I learned that the fog lights on the bumper were worth 0 ea, I restored one. See wrapped light. I didn’t do the other but all parts are there. Sell or use. A second new fog light kit is included. I would give the paint job an 8 of 10. I used the BMW Laguna Seca Blue used on early M cars, using 2 stage paint purchased before CA tyrants deemed it illegal. All moldings, rubber are intact and present, with new extra fasteners for trim. I shortened the “diving board” bumpers. Just pushed in shocks and shorten/paint accordion rubber end trim. All locks work. When the last bits are put on I think it will look really good and cool.Tires/wheels: Tires are “new" but 6 yrs old. Wheels are rare Team Dynamics racing.Cooling system: Troublesome brass heater valve rebuilt/reconditioned. New hoses. No leaks. Radiator rebuilt. 14" or 16” radiator installed. Books/resources: rare 2 vol BMW 2002 shop manual (Bible), assorted others. I was a survivor of the LMU Complex fire on Aug 17th north of Vacaville and have misplaced many receipts and documents so I can’t prove much on paper but the pictures taken 7/9/2021 tell the story.I just ran out of energy with 90% of it done. The car is now a roller and has been stored the last 3 years in Glen Cove, CA by Vallejo. Prior to my turning this into a project the car can like a top. The car ran poorly like maybe I’d put in the dizzy 180 degrees off. The engine turns over, catches, then runs poorly. Even though this car would sell in the k range if it ran well--these cars are appreciating so rapidly, especially ones that look amazing--I am trying to establish price discovery from you. It will take a bit of work to fix the start problem, and I know it would be easy--I don't have the time or energy to deal with it right now.I put it on Craigslist Bay Area on Thursday and have several local people interested. I showed it for the first time, and he said of my work just one thing: meticulous and organized. I welcome comments and questions.
